Suite Cantaclaro

Door: Postcolonial Fandango

A musical "guerilla" against Eurocentric classical music industry traditions.

“Latin American Baroque” represents the perspective of colonial authorities. Postcolonial Fandango tries to artistically recreate the perspective of the colonized subject through the use of crossover. By using the fandango as a “weaponized” genre, this sacrilegious baroque-mariachi vindicates Latin American mixed-race cultural identities in today’s classical music industry.
